An excerpt from a conversation today- Two very rich guys meet in a function, one drives a brilliant BMW, latest version- personifying the rich look. Let’s call him B. The other drives a Maruti 800, incidentally he is vastly wealthy when compared to B. let’s call him M.
B asks ” M, everyone knows you are exorbitantly wealthy, why is it that you still drive an old Maruti?
M replied ” let’s say we both need to go the airport, me with the Maruti and you with the BMW. Ultimately to reach the airport, all we need is the rubber! ”
What a reply! The wheel certainly did shut B up!
When I heard this, it did hit me quite strong, all along we seem as though we are in a continuous mode to prove someone something, whether it is riches or success or grades……. But ultimately all that matters is what they mean to us and how much satisfaction we derive out of it.
I guess the big take away would still be organising our priorities. It’s great to have a damn fashionable and a glamorous lifestyle, but that alone never really determines much. There has to be something deeper!
