Rajesh Khanna passes on but lives on…

A legend, a veteran, an actor, Rajesh Khanna moves beyond his physical existence. But memories are crazy things. No matter what happens, they live on. Rajesh Khanna similarly does live on in a lot of memories, may it be for the millions of fans who loved his charms, his wonderful smile, the dialogue delivery, the sheer brilliance in his acting and much more. For me, it has always been his dialogues, so I thought why not make a list of the best dialogues of this great character?

“ Jab tak zinda hoon tab tak mara nahi, jab mar gaya sala main hi nahi! To fir dar kis baat ka?!!”- Movie Anand

“Zindagi aur maut uparwale ke haath hai jahanpana, jise na aap badal sakte hai na mein. hum sab toh rangmanch ki katputlia hai, jiski door uparwale ke haath bandhi hai. Kan, Kaun, kaise uthega, yeh koi Nahi janta.” – Movie Anand, 1970

“ Main marne se pehle marna nahi chahta”- Movie “Safar”

“Pushpa mujhse ye aasoon nahi dekha jaate, I hate tears”

–          Amar Prem

To top it all follows one of my most favourite dialogues

A dying man visits a swamiji, his foster sister takes him to the Swamiji with a hope that he would cure him when Rajesh Khanna says the following dialogue. The Swami says its only the body which dies! And out comes this dialogue from him and the expressions around are so beautiful that it makes us stop for a while and reflect on what actually it means.

And when I think of dialogues, I remember the songs, the brilliant memories which the songs give and the experience watching those over and over again..

Chingaari koi bhadke

Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye

zindagi ke safar mein guzar jaate hain

hume aur jeene ki chaahat na hoti

and many more such beautiful memories. Physically the actor is no more but the memories linger on, thanks to the millions of fans and the millions of memories he has given us to cherish. The star lives on.. A tribute to a wonderful actor who had so much to offer, a tribute to the millions of memories, a tribute to the many smiles he has given us. A tribute to Rajesh Khanna.

    • Thanks Jaish.. RIP Khanna, may his soul rest in peace. I was watching the tv, gosh he does have millions of people and a huge following.. He sure is going to be missed..

  1. Beautifully complied! BTW, Rajesh Khanna had himself said “I hate tears”, so rather than agonizing lets be happy that he is forever alive in the Indian film industry. 🙂

    • Thank you Aditi.. I extend my warmest welcome to muktamanassu.

Its a very mature way of looking at it. I am in total consonance with the thought that instead of agonizing over it, he has made many moments cherishable and many characters and ideas come true.. For that he will always be alive..

      Thank you 🙂

    • Thank you Subramanian 🙂 . .A warm welcome to muktamanassu 🙂

I have seen Anand a several times; can never get over that character. When Dev Saad dies, I was like- “Okay!” thou a huge “Guide” fan! But I actually felt disturbed I learnt when Rajesh Khanna is no more. That I lived so close to his house in Bandra and yet never chanced upon him made it all the more remorse!
