Kahaani- A different story in a different way, keeps the Bolly Hollly distinction at bay…
I finally made it to the movie today! I have been wanting to watch this movie from a long time and I guess it was probably for the best for this movie was bound to make the recent bad run of movies I had been on take a roundabout turn.
In one statement, I loved the movie. The tempo in which the entire movie goes is quite excellent. The director has done a great job in bringing the elements on the movie together in quite a brilliant fashion. I loved the role of the supporting actor and the way the dialogues have been used, the emotions that have been captured makes the movie a lot closer than I thought. Vidya as usual has done a great justice to the movie. Her acting is quite excellent and very convincing too. The person who takes the role of the lead police does a fair justice to his role too. The arrogance and the dialogue delivery seem very convincing for the part of the police and it seems like pure bureaucracy and its attached attitude in action on the screen. It was a combination of very strong factors in the movie.
The pace the movie goes through is quite inspiring. At every junction, the movie makes us think and keeps us occupied on a thought process. There is a sufficient question that arises in the mind and there seems to be a constant hunt for an answer in the movie and the way things unravel make the guessing game quite worthwhile. For a moment I thought that the Bollywood movies are moving on to the new changes, there is a very strong story line and a stronger set of events which carry from the Hollywood style completely and kinda goes on to prove that the Bollywood too has talent which is no less compared to the English counterparts. That is quite a considerable move in a promising direction. It seems like I am in all praise for the movie. I did find a couple of loose ends as well. I wasn’t too convinced with the part of the assassin. Although the director has done a fair job in bringing out the duality in his character- one tat shows him as a weakling and the other as a dangerous assassin, I somehow feel that there was something amiss in that part which would have made him appear a little more lethal. Other than that, I didn’t find it very justifying about the role and relation for the colonel and Vidya’s husband and how she is chosen for that particular role of her in the movie. Other than these two small things, I don’t have much to complain about the movie.
It is a good 2.5 hrs of entertainment; the movie runs on a normal pace, from the start to the end it makes perfect sense the way it is taken. All the actors have done perfect justice to their parts which is not always what happens in a Bollywood movie. For a movie lover who likes a great story and is looking for some nice acting, this movie would be rated as a must watch. I would rate this movie not less than 4.5 on 5. It is a beautiful movie and I would say it would be a sin to let such a movie go loose. Do watch the movie, it is one movie which gives more than the money’s worth .

I too liked the movie
Thanks for a response on the article Nidhi
I completely agree Vini.. It is a well made movie deserving all praise. And quite out-of-the-genre Bollywood movie. Good that such a change has come our most stereotypical B-town movies. Kudos to Kahaani’s team and of course to Vidya Balan for carrying it off so convincingly!
Yea a well done movie in most aspects. And I knew Vidya would definitely impress you and for obvious reasons hai na vids?
yup i loved the movie too. totally worth the money and the time
and still cant get the contract killer’s character out of my mind. he was one of a kind
I think there was an appreciative article about the killer in one of the papers today. A definitely well made movie
..
True that Sirji ! I think I would not have rated it so high if it wasn’t a bollywood movie
There were certain flaws but even then was a well directed movie and of course vidya was great !
I guess it is the same with me too. The fact that B town is heading in a different direction is a very inspiring thing for movie lovers like us. So I guess I might have accorded it more stars than I would if it were a hollywood movie.
Plus after all nam jana alwa, swalpa promote madona anta
wow, quite a review!!! everyone has something nice to say about this move. may be i ll watch it although i don’t know what this movie is all about. not a big fan of violence or a storyline which depicts disturbing realities. but if u r recommending then it has to be good
You haven’t? Please do, its a wonderful watch for a bollywood movie.. It doesn’t show much of violence. kinda well taken movie thro out. There is a strong story and a nice follow up on that story.. Quite a gripping watch
